Concrete driveways in Magnolia

The dominant concrete question on this side of the county is fill. Land that was pasture five years ago is now graded lots, and lots on flat ground get built up so the house sits above where water stands. Fill that was placed in compacted lifts performs well and nobody ever thinks about it again. Fill that was pushed into place and left to settle on its own announces itself within a few years, and the driveway is usually where it announces itself first, because the drive covers the deepest part of the fill near the road.

That produces a recognizable pattern on newer houses here: a slab that is sound and unweathered but has dropped, often at the street end or over a utility trench, with a step at a joint rather than distributed cracking. That is a lifting candidate rather than a replacement candidate, and injection lifting on a sound panel is a fraction of the cost and disruption of taking it out.

On older properties outside the newer subdivisions, the picture reverts to the rest of rural Montgomery County: long drives, ditch crossings, culverts, and loads that skew toward trailers and equipment. The same rules apply out there, and the pipe under a crossing is still the thing that gets settled before any concrete is ordered.

Magnolia is a reasonable run from Conroe on the county road network, and work here is scheduled the same way, with the wet months treated as a real constraint on pour dates rather than an inconvenience.
